Fernando Vera is a character from USA Network TV Series Mr. Robot who at first was obsessed with Shayla Nico and later developed a "Yandere" obsession for the series protagonist Elliot Alderson.
Background[]
Vera was first introduced in Season 1 where he forced Shayla to go on a date with him before seeing Elliot and leaving. He is later seen in her apart in nothing but his underwear when Elliot comes in to see her. He introduces himself to Elliot and tells him that he reminds him of him when he was younger: depressed and sullen and even talks about how he tried to kill himself several times and how he uses the power of hate to live. After he leaves, Elliot finds out that he raped Shayla, which causes him to turn Vera over to the FBI. Vera then finds out about his ratting out and has Shayla kidnapped and blackmails Elliot into breaking him out of prison, only to reveal that she was already killed.
He then returns in Season 4, having developed a new and worse obsession for Elliot. He desires to make him his crime partner/architect for his criminal empire in New York. He finds out about his fall out with his therapist Krista and on Christmas Day, has her kidnapped and held hostage in her own home, where he tortures her and tells her his twisted plan to break Elliot and build him back up so that he could control him, which causes Krista to reveal about Mr. Robot's nature, Elliot's split personality.
He then has Elliot kidnapped and brought to him, where he expresses his admiration for him and tells him how eager he was for their reunion and tells him the story about his reign in Dominican Republic and the reason why he came back to New York and why he wants Elliot as his partner only. Elliot rejects his proposal and demands to see Krista alive, but later, Vera demands to see Mr. Robot, who later appears and threatens to stay away from Elliot. When Elliot tries to shoot Vera while trying to show his Virtual Realty hack, Vera gets agitated that Elliot dared to fight back and threatens to kill Krista. He later holds out a faux therapy session between the two of them, while it starts of normal enough, Vera forces them to "get the gold karat" while Mr. Robot pleads not to dig into it further, before eventually giving up and leaving Elliot alone. Elliot then slowly figures out that his father, whom he looked up to and fought for his whole life, had molested him as a child, which eventually breaks him. Vera then swoops in and tells Elliot that now he can be his true self and that he is reborn, reminding him that he is only saviour. Elliot blames him for the revelation and Vera defends that he did it for his own good. He then reveals his own abuse at the hands of his mothers' friends and tells him he can use it and be the "storm" that he has weathered for so much long. Krista then comes from behind and kills him.
Yandere Traits[]
Vera at first was obsessed with his drug dealer Shayla and declared her as his property, but after having her killed, he then immediately moved on his obsession to Elliot due to his philosophical belief that he and Elliot are spiritually connected and that they are meant to be partners. He is willing to hurt anyone to get what he wants, like kidnap and hurt Elliot's therapist Krista to get more information about him and psychologically abuse Elliot into submitting to him.
