Jason Dean, also known as J.D., is a yandere character from the live-action series Heathers.

Background[]

He is obsessively in love with his classmate Veronica Sawyer.

Jason grew up with a distant father. Due to that, he had to take the role of a parental figure (the father) instead of seeking an actual parental figure. Meanwhile, his mother committed suicide when he was young. Because his father kept moving around, he never made any friends and was lonely as a result. In his high school years, he has developed a cynical view of the world and therefore has become an unusual man.

This feeling of loneliness growing up is likely why he became so attached to Veronica.

Deredere Feats[]

  • He is very loving and affectionate towards Veronica.
  • During "Our Love is God" and "Meant to Be Yours", he proclaims his love for Veronica and his desire to always be with her.
  • He comforts Veronica when she is sad and does what he can to make her happy again.

Yanderu Feats[]

  • He becomes very protective of Veronica and is willing to kill people who have hurt her.
  • He allowed Veronica to give Heather Chandler a cup of drainer fluid rather than stopping her because of how Chandler treated Veronica.
  • He manipulates Veronica into his murder plots, such as getting her to call Kurt and Rom, two jocks who spread a rumor about Veronica having sex with them, into coming to the cemetery at dawn where he shoots both of them.
  • In the movie, when Veronica breaks up with him he's convinced that she will be back because he believes she still loves him.
  • In the musical, when Veronica breaks up with him he becomes emotionally unstable and initially contemplated killing her for leaving him. However, rather than killing her he turns his anger towards their classmates believing that they brainwashed Veronica into breaking up with him.
  • He reveals during "Meant to Be Yours" that he has a bomb set up, which he plans to detonate during a pep rally to make the whole thing look like a mass suicide.
