She is deeply obsessed with and in love with her idol Trish Stratus.
Mickie James was introduced as a huge fan of Trish Stratus who had written her several fan letters in the past.

- She is always very affectionate and loving with Trish.
- She kisses Trish under a mistletoe.
- She confessed her love to Trish.
Yanderu Feats[]
- She dressed up as Trish for the Halloween edition of RAW and berated the audience into voting for Trish, something that unnerved Trish.
- After losing to Trish in a friendly Women's Championship match at New Year’s Revolution she started to show a darker side towards Ashley Massaro who attempted to get in-between the two of them and make Trish leave her.
- She would defeat Ashley in a match at Royal Rumble with Trish as the special guest reference, with Trish reluctantly count to 3 and awarding the victory to Mickie. This only made her obsession with Trish grow, especially following her confession of love to Trish earlier in the night.
- However, this happiness would come to a screeching halt on RAW the night after where in the middle of the ring, James was brought to tears as, in front of Stratus, she was called a “psycho” by Ashley and the fans in attendance. To compound matters, Stratus politely told James she needed time apart from her.
- Mickie would act like she was okay following this and teamed with Trish one final time at the next Saturday Night's Main Event. After the match, she embraced Trish with a hug and kissed her, however, when Trish pushed her away she immediately turned around and layed Trish out with a kick to the head. She grew tired of her love and affections not being reciprocated and told her “Do you love me now, Trish Stratus? You broke my heart, but now I’m going to break you!”
- Following her rejection she completely snapped and became hell-bent on making Trish's life miserable, which set the road for another singles match: Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James for the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 22, but unlike their last title match, Mickie stepped into this match with malice.
- She kidnapped Ashley and used her as live bait to lure out Trish.
- She built a demented shrine adorned with images of Trish to play mind games.
- She makes out with Trish while covered in blood after knocking her unconscious.
- She forcibly grabbed Trish by the crotch and licked her fingers in a V shape.
- She would go on to beat Trish at WrestleMania 22 and take the Women's Championship from her.
- After the event, she began dressing like Trish and pretending to be her.
- After defeating Trish and going their separate ways, Mickie would slowly start to regain her sanity and by the time Trish retired later than year she and Mickie developed mutual respect, fully redeeming her. There is no storyline explanation for this change in behavior and it seems like her yandere storyline was simply dropped.
