Nastasia Vasil'evna Kairova (1844-1888) was a Russian journalist and actress, and is one of the most well known real life yandere of her time.
Biography[]
For most of her life, she worked as secretary for a Russian newspaper in Saint Petersburg. At 31 years old, however, she became fed up with her life and moved to Orenburg, where she became an actress at a local theater. There, she fell in love with another actor and had a stormy affair with him, even though he was married.
Yandere Traits[]
When her lover tried to end his secret relationship to Kairova in order to safe his marriage, she tried (unsuccessfully) to murder his wife in cold blood. After this incident, she was arrested and put on trial for attempted murder, but was acquitted later on grounds of mental illness.
Trivia[]
Russian author Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881) witnessed her trial and was discontented with the verdict of the jury, which he traced back to European influence. This later inspired the famous trial scene in his last novel "The Brothers Karamazov".
