Yandere Wiki

This article details the wiki policy guideline on adding characters. If you are going to add a new character to the archetype lists, then make sure to follow the guidelines listed below. The requirements for publishing a new page are as follows and failure to meet them will result in the page being deleted:

  1. A completely filled-in {{Character Data}} infobox.
  2. At least a brief background section.
  3. At least 3 deredere feats.
  4. At least 3 yanderu feats.
  5. At least 1 deredere image.
  6. At least 1 yanderu image.

Step 1: Page Templates

The first step is to select the appropriate "Preloaded Page Template". Clicking these preloaded templates will input the correct format you will need to follow detailed in this guide.

Step 2: Character Data

{{Character Data
|official_character_url =
|image =
|name =
|name-alias =
|name-kanji =
|name-romaji =
|series =
|medium =
|gender =
|age_group =
|sexuality =
|sickness =
|lewdness =
|boldness =
|devotion =
|weapon =
|relationship_status =
|lover =
|cured =
|delusional =
|dependent =
|incestuous =
|isolating =
|possessive =
|stalker =
|suicidal =
|violent =
|worshipping =
}}

The next step is to completely fill in the character data template which looks like below. Also make sure to read through the FAQ on the homepage to understand what all the different ratings mean and the {{Character Data}} template to see a detailed list of all the different parameters. It is important to understand that you do not need to (and should not) manually add any of the categories or the introductions as the template is setup to automatically do all of this to ensure consistency in formatting.

Step 3: Background

==Background==

The next step is to add a background for the character. This background should discuss who the character is in love with/wants to be affectionate with, how they met their love interest, why they fell in love with them, their upbringing that made them susceptible to becoming yandere, etc. Anything that is important to the character being yandere.

Step 4: Character Feats

==Deredere Feats==
*

==Yanderu Feats==
*

Next you need to fill in the yandere feats done by the character. These feats should be added via bullet points and ideally listed in a somewhat chronological order to show the character softening over time. Remember that character profiles need at least 3 feats of both the "overly affectionate cute deredere side" and the "mentally sick yanderu side" or they won't be accepted.

  • The "deredere" feats cover their overly affectionate lovey-dovey behavior. It's that cute and pampering kind of affection where they lower their guard in front of the one they love and out their love's needs ahead of their own. Things they've done that show they're acting like they're in love, such as being physically affectionate, confessing their love, getting spoiled by their love interest, fawning over their love interest, being all cutesy and lovey-dovey, etc. Remember that simply saying the word "love" doesn't count as a "deredere" feat, they need to actually show their love in a genuine and lovey-dovey kind of way.
  • The "yanderu" feats cover mentally sick behavior. Things they've done that show they're showing affection in a mentally sick manner, such as stalking their love interest, being obsessive, building a shrine, having delusions of them being more perfect than they actually are, smelling their used clothes, etc., or that show they're being possessive when their relationship isn't going well, such as becoming aggressive towards people who get in-between them, being possessive, constantly checking in, accusing others of interfering, etc.

Step 5: Images

<tabber>
|-|Deredere=
<gallery captionalign="center" bordersize="medium" bordercolor="#ff0065">

</gallery>
|-|Yanderu=
<gallery captionalign="center" bordersize="medium" bordercolor="#ff0065">

</gallery>
</tabber>

The next step is to add images of the above mentioned "deredere" and "yanderu" feats. Remember that character profiles need images of both the "overly affectionate cute deredere side" and the "mentally sick yanderu side" or they won't be accepted.

To add an image simply add the file name in-between the empty spaces seem above (you may need to also remove the placeholder "Empty Gallery.gif" image). Multiple images go on different lines and you can add a caption by using the following format for each image:

FileName.png|Character being affectionate

Step 6: Quotes (optional)

{{Quote Container
|Series=
|{{Quote|Add Quote1 Here|'''Character Name''', from ''Series Name''}}

{{Quote|Add Quote2 Here|'''Character Name''' confessing their love, from ''Series Name''}}
}}

This next step is completely optional, but it does make a page look even nicer! Add some quotes from the character related to their above mentioned "deredere" and "yanderu" feats. To add a quote template simple locate the "Preloaded Page Template" drop-down menu and select "Quote Container".

Step 7: External Links

==External Links==
*[https://example.com Example Wiki]

The next and final step is to add some external links to help readers learn more about the character and their non-Yandere traits. This can include their profile on their respective series' wiki, a MyAnimeList entry, a Visual Novel Database entry, an official website character profile, etc.

Additional Tip

It is strongly advised to create new pages using the Source Editor not the Visual Editor. You may need to use source editor to properly edit templates or to add images as the visual editor does not work the same way. To use the Source Editor, the user must go to the three dots shown in the upper right corner of any article and choose the first option that says "Edit source". You can also click the link we provide in the edit template found above several articles. This can also be changed permanently by going into the Special:Preferences, navigating to the "Editing" tab, scrolling down to the dropdown menu that says "Preferred editor:" and selecting "Source editor".
