This is the Ratings Guide for yandere characters. Each category will have a description of what each number represents and a notable example character who fits each tier.
Sickness
Sickness is how far a character's mental health has deteriorated as a result of their love being too strong. All yandere start with a score of 1, but over time they become more and more mentally unstable as a result of jealousy, possessiveness, or their relationship not going well. A character with a lower score only occasionally displays mild yandere traits and will act deredere most of the time, while a character with a higher score will act sick most of the time. As a character's sickness rises their level of rational thinking disappears and they may begin to act out more and more to keep their beloved for themself.
Characters should be rated based on their peak sickness, so even if they later recover that should not reflect this rating. For visual novels, this means the character should be rated based on any potential "bad endings" if necessary, so if a character is only a "3" in one route, but a "10" in another route then "10" is what should be added.
- Possible Yandere Tier
- 1: Character has no mental illness and only displays mild yandere-like tendencies.
- 2: Character has no mental illness but feels close to becoming full yandere. Characters with a rating under 3 will be marked as "slightly yandere".
- Harmless Yandere Tier
- 3: Character occasionally acts mentally ill, but is loving and affectionate almost all the time. They only have traits of more mild subtypes and are completely harmless.
- 4: Character occasionally acts mentally ill, but is loving and affectionate almost all the time. They are generally harmless but may begin having more negative or violent urges that they can suppress.
- Violent Yandere Tier
- 5: Character acts loving and affectionate when things are going well and mentally ill when they aren't. Characters who display violent outbursts should be rated at least a 5.
- 6: Character acts mentally ill often, but is still very loving and affectionate. They may begin having more murderous urges that they can suppress.
- Murderous Yandere Tier
- 7: Character acts mentally ill a lot of the time, but is still very loving and affectionate. They will often blank out when committing extreme acts and may be able to snap themselves back into control before doing something they'd regret. They will only resort to murder as a last resort. Characters who's sickness has risen to the level of murder should be rated at least a 7.
- 8: Character acts mentally ill most of the time, but is still loving and affectionate. They will often attempt to commit extreme and obsessive acts in an attempt to save their relationship and murder may be their first impulse. However, they can still be reasoned with and still listen to their beloved above all else. Characters who's sickness has risen to the level of absolutely losing it in fits of obsessive and sickly murderous anger should be rated at least an 8.
- Sickness Yandere Tier
- 9: Character acts mentally ill almost all the time, but still has a shred of hope that their relationship can be fixed. They are almost completely mentally gone as a result of their relationship going poorly and may recklessly commit extreme acts without thinking about the consequences. They will only resort to killing their beloved as a last resort as they still want to be with them. However, they can still be returned to loving and affectionate with the right conditions. Characters who's sickness has risen to the level of murdering their beloved should be rated at least a 9.
- 10: Character is completely mentally gone with no going back to deredere, the sickness has completely taken over. Characters who's sickness has risen to the level of despising their beloved, no longer caring about their beloved's happiness, or who only have bad endings should be rated a 10.

She does not attempt to monopolize Keitaro, isolate him, and she has zero aggressive impulses. She even became best friends with a girl that Keitaro met becoming close with her, and even pushed him to join a college party to make friends. | |

She has brief stints of anger towards Ainz's other wife candidates, but she is capable of holding herself back because she doesn't want to inconvenience Ainz. She also openly accepts the idea of Ainz having a harem. She mostly just obssesses over Ainz in his room so she's quite harmless, aside from her regular arguments with Shalltear. | |

Sakuna Memoir | She is extremely loving and affectionate most of the time and even collected hundreds of life-sized dolls of Komari, T-shirts with Komari's face on them, and adores her tremendously. She tries to keep her crazier side under control but she has threatened to kill her love rival at least one time, though she never went through with it. Additionally, since they're all vampires death is not actually permanent so even if she tried it wouldn't cause long-term harm. | |

Satou Matsuzaka | She is extremely loving and affectionate towards Shio and cares for her happiness more than anything in the entire world. She is able to keep her emotions under control quite well and has stopped herself from committing violent acts she would regret on several occasions. She most commonly resorts to non-violent solutions to get rid of her problems, such as blackmail, misdirection, or even false confessions, and will only resort to violence when Shio is under imminent harm, such as when Shio was being attacked by two men and it caused her to snap. The one time she is forced to kill someone she doesn't want to kill because she has no other choice, she shows a lot of heavy regret, and in the end she decides to put this dark past behind her and move towards a brighter life with Shio. | |

Yuno Gasai | She acts crazy the majority of the time after her mental illness is exposed to Yuki, but she is still completely lovey-dovey and affectionate with the two of them are alone together. She shows traits of most sub-types: she stalks Yuki, she has delusions of other girls trying to take him away, of Yuki's mother not accepting her, and she is extremely violent and snaps into fits of sickly anger where she becomes obsessive with killing those in her way. However, she still listens to Yuki. Although she is scared of losing him and acts out, if he tells her to drop her weapon she will listen to him. She also shows enough rational behavior to give up killing Yuki's mother after she accepted their relationship showing she is not completely running off the sickness' impulses. | |

Miyuki Sone | She acts very lovey-dovey and affectionate for the majority of the game, but due to her self-aware nature of being in a visual novel she starts to have a mental breakdown every time the Player chooses another girl's route. She believes the Player is mocking her and interfering in her relationship so she blames the player for making her have to do this. This defiance by the Player forces her to have to kill her beloved Shinichi so the Player will have to pick another route which causes her to suffer and have to repeat the cycle over and over again to have her happy ending. However, despite this with the right conditions she can be returned to deredere again and have a lovey-dovey happy ending. She still loves Shinichi greatly and strongly hated having to hurt Shinichi as she holds out hope they will be together in the next loop the Player chooses, showing she is not completely lost to the sickness. | |

Ayano Aishi | She is capable of entering a trance-like state known as SNAP, where she has completely given up on her Senpai and becomes hell-bent on killing him and then herself. She will also brutally murder anyone who stands in her way of killing her Senpai, showing a complete and utter takeover of the sickness with not a shred of dere left. | |
Lewdness
Lewdness is how much a character has lewd thoughts or has a lewd behaviour towards their beloved. The opposite of lewdness is pureness, so the purer a character is, the less lewd they are. Romance is the balance between between lewdness and pureness.
- Innocent Tier
- 1: Character has only pure child-like feelings towards their beloved. They may do things such as hugging, cuddling, or giving cheek kisses to their beloved, but they don't even lewd them in their own mind.
- 2: Character has only pure child-like feelings towards their beloved but has considered wanting to do more intimate romantic acts with them.
- Romantic Tier
- 3: Character is very pure and romantic towards their beloved but may become embarrassed at the thought of doing lewd acts with them.
- 4: Character is very pure and romantic towards their beloved and has considered wanting to do lewd acts with them, but never acts on those feelings.
- Balanced Tier
- 5: Character is very pure and romantic towards their beloved but also has normal levels of desires to do lewd intimate acts with them.
- 6: Character is very pure and romantic towards their beloved but also has strong levels of desires to do lewd intimate acts with them.
- Perverted Tier
- 7: Character is very pure and romantic towards their beloved but is also very perverted and may attempt to do things such as groping them excessively, stealing their beloved's clothing so they can sniff them later, or attempting to seduce them with their body.
- 8: Character is often very pure and romantic towards their beloved, but is also quite perverted and has a tendency to express heavy lewd desires in the presence of their beloved. However, they may become a little embarrassed when the time to actually follow through with their desires comes.
- Erotic Tier
- 9: Character is very erotic and primarily shows affection through lewd acts, but still has a more pure and romantic side they show on occasion.
- 10: Character is very erotic and only shows lewd behavior towards their beloved with little to no pure and romantic behaviors.

This inability to understand the difference leads her to only ever display erotic advances towards Tanukichi, from stripping naked to seduce him to cooking his food with her love juices. | |
Boldness
Boldness is how much a character is willing to show affection towards their beloved and how willing they are to act crazy in front of them.
Measure it according to how timid or bold the character is from the beginning of the relationship, so if a timid character is too shy to confess until the very end they should still keep that lower rating since it took them much longer than a bold character who confessed right away. The same can also apply regarding acting crazy in front of their beloved, if they're normally a 3 and hide everything, but then eventually their sickness rises to the point they act differently than usual and act crazy in front of them, then 3 is still what should be added since it's not necessarily an example of their inherent boldness.
- Watch From Afar Tier
- 1: Character is too timid to even interact with their love interest up close so they only admire them from afar. If they ever confess their love it will take a very long time.
- 2: Character is too timid to interact with their love interest, but will make attempts to interact with them from the beginning even though they are too shy to actually follow through with it. If they ever confess their love it will take a very long time.
- Shy Tier
- 3: Character will interact with their beloved from the beginning but are too shy to even attempt to openly discuss their true feelings or confess until much later on.
- 4: Character will interact with their beloved and may shyly attempt to do acts of physical affection early on, but are too shy to actually go through with confessing until much much later on.
- Indirect Confession Tier
- 5: Character confidently shows lots of physical affection towards their beloved from the beginning in a way that strongly implies they are in love with them, but they will not directly confess until later on. A sort of unspoken confession where everybody involves knows how they feel, but they have not directly stated it yet.
- 6: Character will indirectly confess their feelings from the beginning and shows lots of physical affection towards their beloved in a way that strongly implies they are in love with them, but they will not directly confess until later on. They may do things such as dropping hints or saying they "love" something about their beloved without actually saying they're "in love" with them.
- Direct Confession Tier
- 7: Character confesses their love from the beginning but will hide their crazy side because they don't want their beloved to think less of them.
- 8: Character boldly confesses their love from the beginning but will hide their crazy side because they don't want their beloved to think less of them.
- Unapologetic Tier
- 9: Character boldly confesses their love from the beginning and will show mild crazy acts in front of their beloved, but will hide the full extent of their sickness. They may do things like displaying occasional possessive behavior in front of their beloved, but hide the fact they're also spying on them.

Devotion
NOTE: This category is receiving an overhaul so please be patient for updated ratings.
Devotion is how much a character is committed to putting their beloved's happiness over their own. A character with a higher score is more selfless and would never do anything to harm their beloved and would even be willing to sacrifice their own well-being to please them, while a character with a lower score would be more willing to act selfishly or inconvenience their love interest.
Alternatively, this can be viewed as a "happiness meter" from the point of view of their beloved. All yandere characters act solely for their beloved under the notion of devoting themselves to their beloved and always protecting their beloved, but if their sickness becomes too strong they may do actions they believe are helping their beloved that are actually negatively affecting them. If their beloved is very happy then the rating will be much higher, but if their beloved suffers or becomes frightened as a result of their actions that negatively effect their beloved then the score will be lower.
- Selfish Tier
- 1: Character cares more about their own happiness and will selfishly disregard their beloved's happiness and either attempt to kill their beloved or leave them in a state of wishing they were dead if they feel betrayed or abandoned. Characters who kill their beloved must be rated a 1.
- 2: Character cares more about their own happiness and will selfishly harm their beloved if they feel betrayed or abandoned. Characters who physically harm/mistreat their beloved or who no longer act for their beloved but rather act for themself must be rated a 2 at the highest.
- Makes Them Miserable Tier
- 3: Character will do extreme actions that make their beloved completely miserable, such as killing their beloved's friends, isolating them to the point of loneliness, etc., but they still believe they are doing things to make their beloved happy.
- 4: Character will do mild actions that make their beloved miserable, such as constantly stalking them, constantly checking in, constantly accusing them of cheating, etc., to the point it negatively affects them and makes them second guess the relationship, but they still believe they are doing things to make their beloved happy.

- 8: Character is strongly devoted to their beloved and will never do anything to majorly inconvenience them, but may cause them some mild inconveniences.
- Pure Happiness/Worship Tier
- 9: Character is fully devoted to their beloved and will never do anything to inconvenience them or make them unhappy, but not at the cost of their own well-being or happiness. They will never even entertain the idea of ever doing anything that could even possibly cause their beloved an ounce of harm, but they will also not sacrifice their own well-being just to make their beloved happy.
- 10: Character is fully devoted to their beloved and will never do anything to inconvenience them or make them unhappy, even at the cost of their own well-being or happiness. Everything they do is solely for the sake of making their beloved happy and they will never even entertain the idea of ever doing anything that could even possibly cause their beloved an ounce of harm.

Although she believes she's doing this to keep Elise safe, it actually causes her to suffer immense emotional trauma. She believes she is doing this to keep him safe, but it is actually making him miserable even though he was in love with her. | |

While she never causes any true suffering to Yuki she has sometimes gone against his wishes, such as when she locked him up in a room to keep him safe from the other participants, though she does this with pure intentions. She has also on occasion had a thought that would cause emotional harm to Yuki, thinking about killing his mother, but she does not actually go through with it. Overall her devotion to Yuki is very pure and at most she causes him mild inconveniences with her antics and he is very happy in the relationship. | |
