Yuri is a yandere in the visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club!. During act three, Monika gives a piece of dialogue confirming that Yuri is indeed a yandere.

She is in love with the protagonist.

Background[]

Yuri is portrayed throughout the majority of the game as being shy, generous, polite, apologetic, very intelligent, eloquent, and passionate about topics she is interested in, although she is also very insecure, awkward, and has a tendency to act slightly condescending and patronizing to mask her self-doubt. She expresses both maturity and sophistication in everything she does. She has a deep desire to be liked by others and is afraid to speak her mind on certain matters as she believes it will make her seem unlikable.

It's implied that Yuri suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder. She is depicted as having a unique fascination with knives. According to Monika, she may bring a different knife to school each day.

During Act 2, Yuri's crush on the protagonist becomes an unhealthy obsession.

She starts to become rude and condescending towards her friends if she feels like they're trying to take the protagonist away from her.
- She caused Natsuki to cry and run away.
- At one point, she calls Monika out on being jealous of the protagonist being with Yuri and "politely" suggests that she kills herself.
After she forces Natsuki and Monika out of the room, she confesses her love towards the protagonist and acts obsessive while explaining her confession. However, she recognizes that something is wrong with her and that her comments and behavior are inappropriate, enough so to feel something bad will happen despite her happiness. She is ultimately unable to control her obsessive outbursts, no matter how hard she tries. It reaches a point where, after she confesses her love to the protagonist, she stabs herself to death, regardless of whether the player accepts or rejects her love. She even tells the main character that Natsuki is an obnoxious brat and says that no one will miss her even if she kills herself.
